Jenn and Megan- Activity Coordinators
Megan was born and raised in Saint John, NB. Following high school, she moved to Fredericton to attend St. Thomas University. While there, she discovered her passion for helping older adults, and pursued a degree in Gerontology. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring around Fredericton and spending time with her cat.
Jenn is from Hampton New Brunswick, she lived there up until she finished High School and then moved to Fredericton to attend St. Thomas University where she studied Gerontology and Psychology. Following her graduation, she moved overseas to teach English in South Korea and lived there for two years. Then she moved back to Fredericton and has been focusing on her real passion which is memory care. Outside of work she loves to travel, bake and spend time with her family, friends and cat.
Rose Chase- Unit Coordinator
I’m a mother of 2 beautiful girls, aged 9 and 11, that keep me on my toes. My husband is a man of many talents, who is a great inspiration to me. We are continually pushing each other to learn new skills. Our family recently built a home along the Nashwaak River, on a farm that’s been in the Chase family since early loyalist settlement (~1780’s). My in-laws still run a Christmas tree farm that was established by his grandfather in the 1960’s. One of my daughter’s favorite parts of the Christmas season is ‘making change’ for tree customers, and setting up their own hot chocolate stand to earn a little extra money for gifts.
Our family is very closely knit and are deeply rooted in homesteading traditions. Our winters are spent cooking interesting new dishes, exploring the woods, skiing, and sliding together as a family. Our summers are largely spent gardening, fishing, camping, swimming and canoeing. We dabbled in raising chickens for meat and eggs when our daughters were younger, and hope to raise farm animals again in the near future.
Nursing was a natural career choice for me. My earliest memories are of visiting my grandmother at a nursing home each day when my older siblings were in school. I knew from an early age that I wanted to help others. I entered nursing straight out of high school and attended UNB Fredericton, graduating in 2008. Though I worked at the hospital briefly, it was clear that geriatrics was my calling. I have a special interest in dementia care and am honoured to be a part of the Birch Grove community.
